Dr. Tammie King is an animal behaviour scientist and the Applied Behaviour Technical Leader at the Waltham Petcare Science Institute, the global fundamental scientific research centre for Mars Petcare. Tammie holds a PhD in Anthrozoology from Monash University and Bachelor of Science (Hons- Zoology) from The University of Melbourne. Tammie is passionate about ways in which knowledge can be shared to improve the human-animal bond, making a better world for pets and people. In addition to her academic research, Tammie has taught Psychology at University level and spent over 10 years working as a Veterinary Nurse/Practice Manager. She also ran her own Animal Behaviour Consultancy business where she educated the general public and industry professionals on pet behaviour. Tammie's current research at Waltham plus her previous work within the Anthrozoology Research Group, Animal Welfare Science Centre and Working Dog Alliance have enabled her to gain valuable insights about ways in which the human-animal bond can be strengthened to enhance working partnerships, improve animal welfare and prevent pet relinquishment.
